550 rowdy students packed into a room that seats 390 with a 110 degree heat index outside and equipment that didn’t want to play my audio (and the ones who did died just before I actually needed it). Not the ideal conditions for this type of talk, but when the intention is there, you can get it done even in tough conditions.
I asked a student to film this for me since my gimble died just before it started (of course). I told him it was more important he learn than he film and he said both playfully and intensely “Oh I’m locked in.”
Even with all these challenges, a young person afterwards gave me maybe some of the most meaningful feedback this program has ever gotten. This is why I do this. ✨

Today I celebrate a significant turn around the sun. 🎉
I’m in rural Nebraska by myself. Not the dream of Terranea, dogs, and cuddles I hoped for. But a different dream. And I’m grateful for this adventure nonetheless. I have ancestors from here so I may ghost hunt and see if I can find any of ‘em. Or I may just get my nails done. TBD.
Knowing I’d be gone day of, a couple of weekends ago, my mega handsome husband planned a fancy soirée with almost all of my favorite women on the planet. My job was to get a dress I loved, and just show up. He took care of the rest - including being a sexy AF bartender all night with a fully stocked bar.
My bestie even came in from far away just to be there. She’s the one laughing at me yelling at Alex for taking a selfie and not a pic. I was wrong… tho right after this he took 8 selfies…soooo
Words are my forte and I’m at a loss as to how to properly use them to describe the magic of this night. Love, gratitude, overwhelm, and joy are the only ones that even come close to capturing the cocktail of soulful and sparkly fulfillment I feel in every ounce of my body.
We ate delicious food. We looked gorgeous. We laughed. We cried. We shined. We relaxed and enjoyed.
Sometimes things go like you plan. Sometimes they don’t. And sometimes it’s better than you could have imagined. The latter was true on this night.
We took a couple fun pics. And of course, my love and BFF 💙Bonnie💙 was included. (This event was my second favorite birthday present ever. She is and will always be my favorite.)
I’ve really been celebrating this year since January with something special every month. But this - the actual bday celebration - was one for the ages.
Happy to be still kicking. Missing giving my favorite furry and human babes squeezes today, but still full from the love I’m surrounded with on a regular basis.
Happy bday, me. Excellent work co-creating this life. It’s a good one.
